Davey rang Danny as he said he would and arrived about quarter after six. He sat in the cab, but true to his word there was Danny, waiting on the street in the evening light. D had a cigarette in his fingers as he hel the wheel. The window was all the way down on this mild night.
He'd made a call to his mate to let him know he'd be coming with Danny. It was courtesy. It had been perfectly fine. Better to have D than some stranger being protective.
Davey waved at Danny and the light on his taxi turned off. He was no longer on duty.
